About Me

I came from a Catholic background. As a child, I loved reading the book of Revelation because I would be in awe of the power and wonders of God.

We had Charismatic Christian neighbors who would invite us to Sunday school. I remember my excitement in coloring booklets, memorizing verses, and hearing stories about the Bible heroes such as Abraham, David, Daniel, Moses, Samson, etc.

As I grew up, I became more zealous in my Catholic faith. I would lead rosaries in our family, do novenas, and had a patron saint, Jude Thaddeus. One time, our Science teacher scolded me for distributing Saint Jude prayer pamphlets in our school.

Yes, I was religious, but aside from John 3:16, the only verse I memorized was John 1:1:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I loved these two not because they made sense to me but because they’re too easy to memorize. We had a Christian Education subject in high school wherein we had to write down at least 5 Bible verses during the exams.

After high school, I studied at a university in a different city. I would be invited to Friday campus ministries by some friends. I got baptized, and I accepted Jesus into…
