An Army So Great
You shout to the dead,
“Get up and walk!”
But how can it be?
They’re not even free
There is a place
Affirmations can’t reach
Nor fear can move
Nor pity, nor platitude
The hearts too darkened
Minds unrestrained
Faces too rigid
Hands too tired to keep trying
In an hour of darkness
He is sending a Helper
He doesn’t condemn
But abides forever
A new mind He gives
A new heart He creates
Till the dead bones rise
An army so great
Even in the grave
The dead can hear
But only life can give life
Only Jesus can revive
The hearts too darkened
Minds unrestrained
Faces too rigid
Hands too tired to keep trying
