Are You Ashamed of the Gospel?

Looking at It from an Eternal Perspective

I personally don’t like hell. I wouldn’t wish it even for my worst enemies. But whether I like it or not, it is real, and I can’t change that.

The word of God is the truth and what it says stands forever, such as:

  1. Heaven is real and so is hell; there is no annihilation.
  2. We are saved by faith in Christ.
  3. We come to know Jesus by the preaching of the Gospel.

These truths don’t change regardless our opinion. Romans 3:4b says,

Let God be true, and every human being a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”

What the World Needs

Those who are not in Christ may look like they are living the best time of their lives on social media but behind those masks are debts, depression, insecurities, worries, fears, discontentment, etc.

When they hit rock-bottom, they are easily overcome. Positive affirmations and self-help books — no matter how beautifully spoken/written — do not have the power to help them. These are but temporary band-aid solutions to the deep problems of their souls.

Before I became a Christian I had been into Eastern meditation and the Law of Attraction — you know, New Age stuff. These do not have power, either. Only God can satisfy the longings of our hearts.

What the world needs to hear is the unadulterated Gospel; they need Jesus.

What we can do is refrain from sugarcoating it for therein lies the power. In Romans 1:16, Apostle Paul writes,

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

That is why he didn’t shrink back from nor compromised in preaching the Gospel. “The Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom”…
