Brokenness is a Blessing
It’s amazing how God let Peter fail in his relationship with him, to deny Jesus (which was to have a consequence of being denied before the Father, although was forgiven).
It was to break him of his pride — pride of his closeness to Jesus, pride in having deeper revelations than the rest of the apostles, pride of the gifts and the calling in his life.
And if that’s what it takes to humble a person, yes, God allows a person to fail, even in his relationship with Him, to show him that he is nothing without God, and that he is not better than the worst sinners.
And what’s most amazing is how Jesus had already interceded for him so that after he failed, his faith would not fail, that he would repent and come back a new person, a better leader, a humble servant; It was when he was broken that he became a blessing to the other apostles and to the believers, to us.
As Jesus said, “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5)
And so later on, Peter even wrote, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” (1 Peter 5:6)
This is also amazing, amazing and amazing in that we know that if God made a great testimony of the power of brokenness in someone else’s life, He can do it in ours.
God is at work in us.
Shalom!
