Praise God for the Conviction
--
A holy conviction is a work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts — to correct us when we sin and to keep us on track. If we are no longer convicted for doing something wrong, we must be alarmed. It must be that our spiritual ears have become deaf to the voice of the Holy Spirit. If we have no remorse for our sin, we are in danger of having a seared conscience.
David wrote about how he was convicted by God,
When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD” — and you forgave the guilt of my sin. (Psalm 32:3–5)
God does the same to us today. So if we are convicted by God, let us not be angry at Him. Instead, let us praise Him for He is giving us a chance to repent. That conviction is His way of saving us because He loves us.
So praise God for convicting you — for not letting you be at peace with your sin. Praise Him for making you groan all day long because you know you are away from His presence. Praise Him for not letting you be content with all the good stuff that this world has to offer, without minding about eternity.
Praise God for not letting you go. Praise Him for the covering — for His supernatural protection over you when your life was in danger. Praise Him for protecting you from making a foolish decision, and if you went ahead with it, for keeping you until today.
Praise God for chasing after you even when you didn’t want to have anything to do with Him. Praise Him for knocking on your door every day until you open it. Praise God for His patience.
Praise God for His love!
