Many people have tried religion but failed; they are heavily discouraged. They now blame others. They believe that God has forgotten them and is angry at them. They have returned to their old lifestyles — and now, are back in bondage to sin. What seemed like just days of wandering away from God’s presence became months, then years.

When they listen to sermons, they can no longer distinguish between conviction and condemnation — both sound the same. So they stay away from God’s flock (the real church of God). God’s presence is no longer a place of joy but misery and fear.

Other days, they think of Jesus, but gone are the desires and affection for Him. No more longing in their hearts to talk to Him. Their intimacy now seems a distant past. When they think of Him, it is with fear of His judgment — that He might come back anytime, and they will be left behind.

They live in constant dread and fear. A bang on a door or a loud phone ring makes them anxious. Even crossing a street with fast cars makes them afraid.

Alcohol and pills have become their friends, and sleepless nights and depression become enemies they constantly battle with…
